My German friend recommended that we attend a concert at the Opera House (Opernhaus in German). She stressed the importance of booking our tickets early, as it is a well-known event, and tickets can be sold out quickly in a way to convince me to go. I agreed with no hesitation. And I would have agreed even if it was not a well known concert because I believe that you won’t understand the country without being exposed to the language, art and experiencing culture through the eyes of the locals.

Regrettably, my friend couldn’t join me due to a serious issue. And I have to mention that when a German apologizes for not being able to attend an appointment that literally means that there is a very serious issue. More of the German punctuality and planning in future posts – so stay tuned 🙂

Went on the day with a lot of excitement…

And here was the big surprise:) … Discovered that the whole show was in German 🙂 Hahahahahahaha

How sweet?!!! 🙂 I really loved the amount of trust my friend is putting on my German language capabilities:)

So I watched the show as it was an extension of Charlie Chaplin’s plays:) To put things into perspective, if the entire show were an article of 100 words, I probably understood only about 20 of them.

This experience taught me a valuable lesson: it is not only enough to be on time thinking that you did your planning part. NO… you should ask about every single thing that will happen on that day and plan ahead. I should have asked about the language of the show and I also should have read more about the story of the show before going so I could have immersed my senses with what I was seeing 🙂
